AFRDI Approved Office Chairs

The Australasian Furnishing Research and Development Institute (AFRDI) is an independent not-for-profit technical organisation providing standards, testing, product certification and research for buyers and sellers of furniture. The purpose of testing and certification is to ensure that products are not only safe, but that they will last, thus contributing to sustainability, and |minimising use of the earth's resources. AFRDI standards cover strength, durability, stability, flammability and safety. Regular auditing ensures quality to be continuously maintained. Australian Standards: AS/NZS 4438 (Levels 4, 5 and 6) Ergonomic assessment is only available under AS/NZS 4438 and most certified office swivel chairs in Australia and New Zealand are tested to the requirements of AS/NZS 4438:1997 for height adjustable swivel chairs. This Standard is regarded as appropriate for weight up to 110 kg. AFRDI Level 6 certified office chair will meet most commercial needs.  Level 6 chairs should be able to withstand extremely robust environments and conditions of use, such as police stations, military installations, control rooms and use in heavy industry. AFRDI Level 5 certified office chairs are suitable for heavy duty office, industrial and similar application. AFRDI Level 4 certified office chairs are suitable for office, general keyboard and executive use.

Established in 1963 in Palazzolo sull’Oglio, Pedrali is today a company that produces contemporary design furniture for public spaces, offices and homes in its production sites in Mornico al Serio (Bergamo) and Manzano (Udine). The headquarters in Mornico al Serio also features the automatic warehouse, whose outside concept was entrusted to the architect Cino Zucchi.

The collection is the result of a rigorous and careful research that is realized in the creation of industrial design products made of plastic, metal, wood and upholstered materials.
